Cubs, Scouts & Beavers
Members of the group have been very busy over the past month - both the cubs and the beavers visited the police helicopter - and both groups had an excellent time.
The beavers had a really good day at Squirrel Wood on their District Beaver Day - with lots of different fun activities to take part in, whilst the Scouts had a good district camp at Hesley Wood - again with plenty of different activities to join in - and followed this by a visit to the Firestation to complete work on the firefighter badge.
The cubs welcomed four beavers into the pack at a going up ceremony and two more beavers, James Owen and Damian Waymouth , have gained the Beaver Challenge award. The Colony will be welcoming some new members in once Spring Bank holiday is over - whilst there is still room in both the pack and the troop for any new members who would like to join - boys only in the pack, both boys and girls in the troop.
Leadership in the troop has been strengthened by the return of former member, Chris Clarkson, as ASL and by Lauren's mum who has volunteered to be a regular troop helper.
Finally, a last reminder that our AGM is at the Barn on Tuesday, 5th June at 7.45pm. Please support us if you can.

Our club now look forward to next season and beyond. To further enhance, develop and promote the advancement of Youth Football in the parish of Whiston, for the village community and the surrounding areas.
We are already developing a new under &'s for next season and have introduced a nursery squad to allow youngsters from as young as 5 years old. To join the club, to be able to come along and make new friends and learn the skills of the game in a fun, safe and controlled environment.
Our long term plans involve the development of all girl teams at all age ranges and the eventual development of a permanent home for our club and all our teams within the village boundaries. This project is our ultimate objective and work is under way to establish dialogue with other village community groups and Whiston Parish Council to advance these aims.
More details of this and other information about our club can be gathered at the clubs Annual General Meeting to be held on Thursday, 28th June at 7.30pm at Whiston Parish Hall, Well lane. Everyone welcome, refreshments will be served.
